Quality Inspector (Mechanical)

Our precision engineering industry client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector. The suitable candidate should have a solid background in quality and precision engineering? This is a great opportunity to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Surrey, working on high‑precision components within a forward‑thinking environment.

As part of the quality team, you will play a key role in inspecting machined, cast, moulded and assembled parts, ensuring high standards are consistently met across all stages of production.

Mechanical Inspector Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual, functional and dimensional inspection of mechanical components and final products
  • Create CMM programs and carry out detailed component inspection
  • Generate inspection documentation such as FAIRs and control plans
  • Conduct batch, inter‑stage and first article inspections
  • Support root cause investigations and contribute to quality improvement activities
  • Provide feedback on inspection issues to relevant teams
  • Update ERP systems accurately and maintain a clean, safe working area
Requirements:
  • 3 or more years' experience in a mechanical inspection role within manufacturing
  • Experienced with traditional metrology tools (micrometers, Verniers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Confident reading engineering drawings with a good understanding of geometric tolerancing
  • Experience setting and/or operating CMM machines is ideal for this role
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards is desirable
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering is advantageous
