Quality Engineer - High-Performance Engineering Environment

Location: Leicester

The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining product integrity and ensuring that all manufacturing output meets strict customer, regulatory and industry standards. You'll work across production, engineering and operations to identify root causes, resolve quality concerns and enhance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead root cause investigations and deliver corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyse key quality performance metrics including scrap, defects, rework and customer complaints.
  • Investigate in-production quality issues and support decisions on rework, scrap or acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain calibration systems for inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Conduct routine checks on route cards and ensure work orders are closed accurately and on time.
  • Provide training and support to production staff on quality standards and inspection techniques.
  • Carry out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections, including surface measurement checks.
  • Assist with supplier evaluation, qualification and auditing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100 and other relevant industry standards.
About You
We're looking for a candidate with :
  • Experience in a quality assurance or inspection role within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or similar quality frameworks.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Solid time‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good PC literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook); MRP / ERP experience is advantageous.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety regulations.
