Qualifications

Overview

Our client is a successful manufacturing company in the electronics sector. They are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer at their site in Basildon, Essex. As a Quality Engineer you will join the lineside Engineering team and will support the Senior Quality Engineer to implement and maintain policies and standards to ensure that materials, processes and finished products within the company consistently meet the quality standards necessary for complete customer satisfaction. You will be suitably qualified, forward thinking, a good communicator and well organised.

Responsibilities
  • Production support: Support shop floor meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving build quality. Communicate efficiently throughout the shop floor and with own and customer’s management. Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service providers.
  • Complaints 8D investigation and support: Manage quality-related issues within the manufacturing team with team support (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty).
  • Quality Problem analysis: Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.
  • Continuous improvements: Support and lead process improvement activities, attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions. Undertake continuous training and development of teams and production staff. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Regulation/Compliance: Participate in the development and refinement of customer requests (and internal where necessary).
  • Support on Quality functions: PFMEA's (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PPAP/Kaizen events/Goods-in-inspection.
  • Support with customer returns and help identify root causes of failure/CAPA.
  • Support in maintaining the Quality Management System (process creation and maintenance).
  • Ensure a high level of documentation control, in line with the ISO 9001.
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline and/or professional membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQP, MCQP).
  • 2+ years' experience in Quality Engineering.
  • Good understanding of the demands of Contract Manufacturing; including electro-mechanical assembly, PCBA manufacturing, prototyping, test development and component sourcing.
  • Experience in PFMEA, PPAP reporting to internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing with strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Fully conversant with ISO9001:2015.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident IT-user including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary circa £32,000 pa (dependent on skills, knowledge & experience)
  • Full time is 37 hours per week
  • Mon to Thurs 07:30 to 16:00 and Fri 07:30 to 12:30
  • 25 days plus Bank Holidays (includes Christmas shutdown)
  • Plus, up to 5 days for long service
