Qualified Social Worker – Safeguarding & Care Planning

Location: West Midlands

Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (via agency)

Join a Children’s Services team in a West Midlands Local Authority recently rated GOOD by Ofsted – a recognition of its commitment to quality practice, early intervention, and positive outcomes for children and families.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and supportive Safeguarding & Care Planning team that works closely with children, families, and professionals to ensure timely, effective, and child-centred support.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing a complex caseload, including Child Protection, PLO, and Court work.
  • Undertaking high-quality assessments, including parenting and viability assessments.
  • Preparing robust reports (e.g. CPRs, Annex A, final evidence) that inform key decisions.
  • Conducting direct work with children and families to assess risk and plan interventions.
  • Coordinating with multi-agency partners to deliver holistic, joined-up support.
  • Contributing to permanency planning, ensuring children\'s long-term needs are prioritised.
  • Taking part in regular supervision and reflective practice to support your development.
What We’re Looking For
  • Social Work England registration and a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • 4+ years’ experience in statutory children’s services, including court work.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and safeguarding legislation.
  • Proven expertise in permanency planning and risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and communication skills.
  • A trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to practice.
  • The ability to engage children and families creatively and effectively.
