Overview

Qualified Social Worker - Child Protection Team
Leeds, West Yorkshire
£35 per hour (agency role)

Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker committed to safeguarding children and supporting families? Join a high-performing Child Protection Team in West Yorkshire, where your skills will directly impact the lives of vulnerable children and make a lasting difference.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you\'ll work with children and families at risk, helping to ensure they are safe, supported, and empowered.

  • Hold a complex caseload within Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and court proceedings
  • Carry out Section 47 enquiries and prepare cases for Initial Child Protection Conferences
  • Lead on Child & Family Assessments, with a strong emphasis on early planning for permanence
  • Work directly with children and their families using evidence-based tools
  • Collaborate with partner agencies (health, education, police) to deliver joined-up support
  • Contribute to sustainable, positive outcomes through robust planning and meaningful engagement

You\'ll also work closely with Integrated Prevention and Early Help services to promote local, community-based solutions once statutory intervention is no longer needed.

What We\'re Looking For
  • A degree in Social Work (or equivalent: DipSW, CQSW, CSS)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS check (clean)
  • Access to a vehicle for travel across the locality
  • Minimum 4 years post-qualified experience working with children and families
  • Strong background in Child Protection, Children in Need, and Court work
  • Experience supporting families through pre-proceedings and public law proceedings
  • In-depth understanding of legislation, policies, and safeguarding frameworks
  • Proven ability to carry out direct work with children and families
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skills
  • Confidence in multi-agency working and professional decision-making
  • A flexible, creative, and reflective approach to practice
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct full assessments of risk and need in line with statutory requirements

  • Ensure the voices of children are central to all assessments and plans
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to achieve the best outcomes
  • Offer support to students and less experienced practitioners as needed
