Overview

Qualified SEN Teacher - Secondary School - South Birmingham
Location: South Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP or January 2026

The Role

We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher (QTS essential) with experience working with students who have a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). The successful candidate will plan and deliver lessons that are adapted to suit individual EHCPs and learning profiles. You'll work alongside SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external professionals to provide consistent and personalised support. This role is primarily classroom-based but may also involve working 1:1 or in small groups depending on students\' needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students with a wide range of SEN
  • Adapt resources and strategies to support individual learning needs
  • Work closely with the SENCO, support staff, and outside agencies to implement EHCPs
  • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation techniques when required
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and keep accurate records
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with special educational needs (preferably in a secondary or SEN setting)
  • Understanding of SEND Code of Practice and EHCP implementation
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support strategies
  • Passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply through us)
