Job description
QA Engineer Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station

Contract type: Permanent

Start date: Immediate start - pending successful CTC clearance

Salary: £23.38 plus £1ph Supervisory uplift plus £1.50 site bonus (this will go up to £2.37 during outages)

Role details:

We currently have an opportunity for multiple QA Engineers to join our team at Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station.

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure all activities are controlled responsibly, with safety as a priority, meeting Altrad's requirements and current legislation.
  2. Apply relevant Engineering Standards & Specifications to achieve a world-class HSEQ performance, complying with technical and environmental legislative requirements.
  3. Ensure the safety of people and the environment.
  4. Familiarise with associated mechanical, civils, and quality procedures.
  5. Understand, communicate, monitor, and control scope, time, and cost; proactively mitigate issues when needed.
  6. Maintain high standards of workmanship within the facilities.
  7. Utilise best practices and seek innovations for continuous quality improvement.
  8. Deploy continuous improvement tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  9. Follow and sign off suitable risk assessments.
  10. Record and report delays to the Project Team.
  11. Accurately record all required HSEQ documentation.
  12. Develop and implement the Altrad Integrated Management System (AIMS) at the work location.
  13. Ensure project work complies with Client Specifications & British standards.
  14. Develop, approve, and monitor project quality Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Subcontractor Quality Plans (QPs).
  15. Support project setup documentation and ensure QP/ITP sign-offs are completed concurrently with work.
  16. Manage LTR strategy requirements, including coordination, compilation, checking, approval, and storage of project/subcontractor LTRs.
  17. Ensure inspection certificates are completed and issued in line with the QP/ITP schedule.
  18. Conduct periodic internal and external audits of the Quality Management System.
  19. Monitor vendor performance and perform supplier/subcontractor assessments and audits.
  20. Support and lead continuous improvement activities.
  21. Undertake special projects as assigned.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualifications ranging from Diploma, Associate, to Degree level, including CQI Certificate or Bachelor's Degree in Quality/HNC Engineering (desirable).
  • NVQ Qualification in Nuclear/Engineering related area.
  • Experience in a Quality Engineering (QA/QC) role.
  • Ideally CSWIP 3.1 qualification, ISO:9001 internal auditor preferred.
  • Valid Site Safety Passport.
