Job description

MACA are seeking a Contracts Advisor to provide effective management and administration of subcontract/supply packages to control spend and limit risk across Thiess & MACA Australia West projects.

Key result areas include:
  • Prepare and manage tender packages in Felix, including issuing requests, comparing submissions, assessing commercial/technical risks, and supporting business case development for approvals.
  • Draft, negotiate and execute Subcontract, Supply and Consultancy Agreements, ensuring compliance with commercial and legal standards, maintaining contract registers, and securing favourable terms.
  • Coordinate contract award and handover, preparing comprehensive handover packs outlining obligations, scope, KPIs, program details, variations processes, dispute escalation and payment requirements.
  • Administer contracts through JDE, including supplier setup, raising purchase orders, maintaining logs, processing reconciliations and collaborating with Supply Chain and Accounts Payable on claims.
  • Manage contract performance and compliance, resolving disputes, responding to notices/claims, processing variations/extensions, conducting annual rate reviews, monitoring insurance currency and completing formal close‑out activities.
  • Provide project and procurement support, preparing procurement plans, assisting with JDE and Felix processes, supporting internal stakeholders, and ensuring consistent contract administration across projects.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Relevant formal education in Finance, Commerce, Business or a related discipline, supported by solid experience in procurement and contract administration within the mining and/or construction sectors, enabling effective engagement with technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to interpret complex contract and pricing information, identify risks/opportunities, and contribute to sound commercial decisions.
  • Comprehensive industry knowledge, particularly regarding current procurement practices, contracting standards, and commercial frameworks commonly used in mining and construction.
  • Good understanding of organisational processes and governance, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and support internal stakeholders in meeting procedural and policy requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the capability to influence outcomes, manage supplier relationships, resolve issues professionally and ensure alignment with company standards.
  • Working knowledge of JDE or similar ERP systems, including experience navigating procurement workflows, contract setup, purchase orders and financial tracking to support accurate administration.
