Main Purpose of the Role

Pupil Support Assistant - PKC13127
£17,067 - £17,988 (27.5 Hours per week, Whole Year working)
Letham Early Years & Childhood Centre and Our Lady\'s RC Primary School Nursery, Perth

We are looking for an enthusiastic, nurturing and innovative Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) to join our Inclusion team.

The PSA role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include: Social and Emotional, Learning, Communication, Physical and Personal Care.

Some children may present with distressed and challenging behaviour as a result of these needs. The PSA may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans.

Please note: the role will be split predominantly between Letham Early Years & Childhood Centre and Our Lady\'s RC PS Nursery, with an expectation to support other identified settings dependent on the level of need of the other services during the holiday periods.

Please note: while this is a permanent post within Perth & Kinross Council, the specific school placement may change depending on service requirements.

This post is 27.5 hours per week, 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday over 45 weeks of the year. This is a full year post with set holidays; 2 weeks at Christmas and 2nd week of Easter holidays, the 2nd 3 weeks of summer holidays, 2nd week of October holidays and for some public and occasional holidays.

Skills & Experience Required

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative.

You will have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to working with children.

A knowledge of a wide range of learning needs and how to foster positive relationships would be an advantage.

A knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques would be an advantage.

As a PSA, you will also need to demonstrate a commitment to achieving the required qualification within the timescales set by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
