Job Title: Pump Fitter - Electrical Motor Trade

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

About the role

AMLR is recruiting on behalf of a reputable engineering company based in Leicester, supplying high-quality products and solutions for a wide range of industrial applications. Their portfolio includes pumps, gear drives, AC/DC motors, drives, control panels, fans, and blowers – all designed for reliability, performance, and long-term durability.

They are now seeking a skilled and time-served Pump Fitter to join their team. This hands‑on role will involve installing, maintaining, overhauling, and repairing a wide variety of industrial pumps and rotating equipment. You'll work closely with engineers, supervisors, and service teams to ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.

Important: Due to the nature of the markets this business supplies into, all candidates must be UK residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, assemble, align, and commission pumps, motors, valves, and associated mechanical equipment
  • Carry out routine, reactive, and preventative maintenance on centrifugal, positive displacement, submersible, and other pump types
  • Diagnose faults relating to mechanical wear, vibration issues, seal failures, and misalignment
  • Complete full pump overhauls including dismantling, inspection, component replacement, and reassembly to OEM specifications
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, dial indicators, torque tools, and laser alignment systems
  • Ensure accurate piping connections, alignment, and compliance with operational and safety requirements
  • Maintain detailed service records, maintenance logs, and repair reports
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental standards, including risk assessments and site safety procedures
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and workshop teams to minimise downtime and support efficient workflow
Skills & Requirements
  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter, Engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification
  • Strong background working with industrial pumps and rotating machinery
  • Good understanding of hydraulic systems, fluid dynamics, and mechanical seals
  • Ability to fault find, troubleshoot, and carry out precise mechanical alignments
  • Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
  • Solid understanding of safe working practices — including LOTO, confined space, and hot work procedures
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently or as part of a wider engineering team
  • Good communication skills, professional approach, and strong work ethic
