Job description

A leading national firm is looking to appoint a Residential Development Partner to join its highly regarded Living Sector practice. The team is one of the largest of its kind in the UK and advises a wide range of clients on residential and mixed‑use development projects, including PLC housebuilders, regional and SME developers, registered providers, land promoters and PRS investors.

The group is consistently recognised as a premier team by clients and in the legal directories and continues to experience significant growth across the Living Sector.

The Role

This is a senior leadership role with national reach. You will:

  • Lead on major residential and residential‑led mixed‑use development projects
  • Work on high value conditional and unconditional contracts, option agreements, promotion agreements, funding arrangements, collaboration agreements and forward commitment structures
  • Drive growth within the residential development practice and contribute to the wider strategic direction of the firm
  • Play an active role in client relationship management and the development of new business
  • Mentor, support and guide more junior team members, helping to shape the next generation of lawyers
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across offices and practice groups

You will join a national team with strong panel appointments, major clients and consistent exposure to large‑scale development mandates.

About You

You will ideally bring:

  • A legal qualification with at least 8 years' post‑admission experience
  • Strong expertise in the Living Sector, whether housebuilding, strategic land, build‑to‑rent or affordable housing
  • A proven track record of building, developing and sustaining a practice in this area
  • Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of revenue prioritisation
  • A collaborative and supportive leadership style, with the ability to coach and mentor colleagues
  • An outward facing profile with credibility in the residential development market
  • A commitment to innovation, efficiency and continuous improvement
