Client facing role supervising the safe delivery of project contracts from inception to completion including the management of contracts, external stakeholders and liaison with the resident BGIS site team. Assisting the Project Manager to ensure project profitability in line with expected Gross Profit and to ensure practical completion and prompt billing.
The candidates should have a clear understanding of the requirements to self-deliver projects from commencement to completion in line with the BGIS procedures and culture.
Project Planning
- Assist Project Management team by accompanying sub-contractors to attend site to evaluate new project opportunities.
- Supervision of projects with safety and customer satisfaction as a priority.
- Explain implications of changes to project scope and/or objectives to the client and to the project team.
- Manage the subcontract team to prioritise tasks, outstanding obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources and deadlines.
- Create or participate in the creation of project documentation.
- Ensure all project documentation is in place and suitable prior to any start on site.
- Develop a relationship with the client, stakeholders, team members or contract personnel to ensure the defined solutions, established project timelines and budgets are all as expected.
- Work with the Project Manager / Head of Projects to ensure changes are understood and approved.
- Forward plan to recognise potential programme implications.
Project accounting and finance
- Understand profit & loss and cost-to-completion projections; and communicate issues to the Project Manager / Head of Projects so that actions can be agreed accordingly.
- Understand pricing model and billing procedures.
- Work closely with the Project Manager / Head of Projects to accurately forecast revenue, profitability margins and billing.
- Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
- Determine the appropriate revenue recognition, ensuring timely and accurate completion of works to enable invoicing.
Project control
- The Project Supervisor is to be responsible for the safer running of their own projects and assist in the completion of a Construction Phase Plan as part of their project control methodology.
- Ensure that each project runs in conjunction with the Construction Phase Plan and that each person involved in the project is proven to have the required skills.
- Manage scope creep through client change orders, internal change orders, phased delivery or other methods to ensure projects deliver on timelines, scope, budget and strategy expectations.
- Ensure project meets internal and client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery and time lines.
- Address issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact to quality, budget and time line.
- Where project control is jeopardy, assist the Project Manager / Head of Projects in creating contingency plans with appropriate input from key team members and implement a revised project schedule, scope or budget in a timely manner.
Project communication
- Work with project team to ensure clients achieve an understanding of expectations, deliverable dependencies, risks, progress and the works development process.
- Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones and other key project metrics to clients and team members in a timely and professional manner both orally and in writing.
Internal project reporting and administration
- Attend project review meetings.
Resource management
- Experience of Supervising projects £50k to £1m plus.
- Understand project roles of team members based on project requirements, timeframes and budget.
- Work with external contractors in addition to internal resources.
- Understand skillsets (competencies) required for the project based on project specifications and requirements.
Client management
- Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Build a knowledge base of each client's business, organization and objectives.
- Work with the day-to-day client team.
- Set and manages client expectations.
