Job description
Overview

Bouygues Travaux Publics, specialized in civil engineering and engineering structures, is a world leader in land use planning and sustainable infrastructure construction. We are hiring a Project Manager to lead critical works on Sizewell C, a 3.2 GW nuclear power station delivering low-carbon electricity for decades. This is a leadership role within the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) delivering heavy civils-focused works in the Suffolk project area, including earthworks, platform installation, drainage, FRC slabs, water management, and infrastructure installation on a live construction site. You will balance day-to-day delivery with long-term strategic thinking, drive safety, productivity, quality, and team development, and solve problems hands-on in one of the UK’s most exciting construction programmes.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading the safe and efficient delivery of assigned construction portions to programme and budget.
  • Managing teams across multiple disciplines, ensuring resources are aligned with programme and safety priorities.
  • Setting clear KPIs across HSE, quality, productivity, and cost performance, and driving progress against these targets.
  • Delivering technical excellence in heavy civils, including platform construction, earthworks, drainage, sheet piling, and reinforced concrete works.
  • Supporting collaborative engagement with internal and external stakeholders — including the client and partner organisations.
  • Taking ownership of operational challenges, championing continuous improvement, and coaching junior staff for long-term development.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory consents, environmental permits and nuclear safety protocols.
  • Leading risk reviews, cost control meetings, and driving mitigation strategies for both commercial and delivery risks.
What We’re Looking For
Essential experience and competencies:
  • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale heavy civil engineering packages on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of live construction environments, ideally in nuclear, marine, rail, or similar regulated sectors.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate large, multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Strategic approach to planning, risk management, productivity analysis, and commercial performance.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • SMSTS certified, with a valid CSCS card and UK driving licence.
  • High standards in health, safety, and environmental leadership.
Desirable:
  • Experience working within a major alliance or joint venture delivery model.
  • Chartered or professionally accredited (ICE, IHT, CMI, etc.).
  • Formal leadership training or qualifications (e.g. ILM).
  • Experience supporting and responding to regulatory audits (e.g. ONR).
  • A strong record of developing emerging talent and mentoring junior staff.

This role offers a rare opportunity to shape and lead major works on a project of national significance. You’ll be joining a highly motivated team with the tools, backing, and ambition to make a lasting impact.
