Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Multiple Project Managers on a Permanent, based in East Midlands.

Role Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, delivering, and overseeing electricity distribution network projects within National Grid Electricity Distribution. This role ensures that all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to regulatory and technical standards. The Project Manager will coordinate internal engineering teams, external contractors, customers, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes across the NGED operating regions.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Coordination
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of distribution network projects, including new connections, network reinforcement, asset replacement, and customer-driven works.
  • Manage projects in line with NGED/WPD policies, engineering standards (EDS/EMP), and statutory/regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with design teams, planners, field staff, and contractors to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Oversee material procurement, resource planning, and site readiness.
Stakeholder & Customer Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, local authorities, internal stakeholders, and third-party contractors.
  • Ensure all customer communications are timely, accurate, and aligned with NGED's service standards.
  • Manage land rights, wayleaves, permits, and consents as required.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure all works comply with NGED safety rules, CDM regulations, and HSE legislation.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to verify quality and safety performance.Maintain up-to-date project documentation and ensure accurate reporting in company systems.
Financial & Performance Management
  • Monitor project costs, variations, and expenditure to ensure delivery within agreed budgets.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., RIIO-ED2 outputs, investments, and performance metrics).
  • Identify efficiencies, risks, and opportunities to improve project performance.
Requirements
Essential
  • Proven experience managing utility, construction, electrical engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of electricity distribution networks (LV/HV/EHV preferred).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, standards, and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer communication skills.
  • Competence in project planning, scheduling, cost management, and reporting.
  • Strong awareness of safety regulations, CDM, and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable
  • Experience working within NGED/WPD or other UK DNOs.
  • Knowledge of RIIO regulatory frameworks.
  • NRSWA, SMSTS/SSSTS, IOSH, or similar qualifications.
  • Electrical engineering background (HNC/HND/Degree).
Qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Project Management, Construction, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant industry certifications (PMQ/APM, Prince2, NEBOSH, NRSWA) are advantageous.
