Job summary

A leading construction firm in Milton Park is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead multiple project teams. You will be responsible for delivering projects while ensuring client requirements are met and maintaining profit margins. Candidates should have at least 5 years of Project Management experience, a qualification in engineering, and a full UK driver's license. Purpose of the job

To provide leadership, direction and strategy at a competent level on one or a number of multi-disciplinary teams delivering projects such that the customer's requirements are delivered and Nuvia's performance and profit margins are met. Manage project start up and delivery and to meet time cost, quality, safety requirements and manage risk.

Key Accountabilities
  • Delivery accountability: Accountable for all aspects of project delivery including definition, design, procurement, manufacture, construction and commissioning.
  • Delivery accountability: Accountable for project financial performance.
  • Delivery accountability: Accountable for the successful delivery of the project in accordance with the PMP.
  • Delivery accountability: Management of project scope and any deviation from that agreed scope.
  • Launches the Project: Arranges and holds Inaugural Contract Review meeting and receives tender file.
  • Launches the Project: Sets up project team, obtains resources, mobilises, defines roles and responsibilities.
  • Launches the Project: Holds project start-up meeting.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes effective communication with all project stakeholders, internal and external, especially client representative.
  • Launches the Project: Supports customer in project dealings with external agencies and customer stakeholders.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes security requirements on the project and implements them.
  • Launches the Project: Develops, agrees with the Sponsor and communicates the Project Management Plan.
  • Launches the Project: Prepares a project delivery strategy.
  • Launches the Project: Prepares Procurement Strategy.
  • Launches the Project: Prepares Safety Plan.
  • Launches the Project: Ensures where required, a robust basis of design is developed which meets project delivery strategy, schedule and budget requirements and will deliver the technical requirements of the project.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes document and key deliverables schedule.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes resource requirements and liaises with the business to secure the correct SQEP resource to meet the project requirements.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes project management check sheets for the key stages of the project.
  • Launches the Project: Launch the Construction Phase in conjunction with the Construction Function Manager.
  • Launches the Project: Organises the management of production of safety case, where applicable, and ensures all constraints are flowed down from design to implementation and commissioning.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes schedule, budgets and sets up project cost control.
  • Launches the Project: Establishes base line budget and schedule.
  • Launches the Project: Sets up WBS, CBS and OBS and align all.
  • Launches the Project: Sets up accounting structure to suit WBS.
  • Launches the Project: Establish cost control methodology.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Manage production of enquiry specifications in accordance with delivery and procurement strategies.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Manage the procurement exercise and subsequent review for supplier selection.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Assess tenderer costs, performance indicators and let subcontract.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Manage placement of purchase orders on behalf of the project and the customer.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Manage subcontractors in accordance with company subcontract management process.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Monitor, control, report project costs, resources (internal and external), schedule and scope.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Maintain record of project costs and commitments, compare with plan and take corrective action where required.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Hold regular progress meetings with the customer.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Hold regular internal reporting with Sponsor as defined in the PMP.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management: Track progress and resource usage on schedule, mitigate any deviations present or foreseen.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
  • A qualification within either a engineering or related field.
  • Project Management related qualification
Duties and Requirements
  • Demonstrates competent professional standards of behaviour and compliance with legal and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrates competent commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate with Clients and improve Nuvia's commercial position within contracts.
  • 3 years' experience in Project Management as a Project / Senior Project Engineer.
  • Demonstrable experience in engineering project delivery, with demonstrable competence gained in a project management position.
  • Can deliver project management expertise, leadership, problem solving and conflict management skills to a competent level.
  • A full UK driver's license
