This role involves leading the installation phase of these projects, working collaboratively with the internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction strategies, and the profession development of the installation team.

Key support for the role includes the Sales, Purchasing, and Technical teams, while the role will draw upon the Service team for installation resources and actively shape its operations through best practice. A significant aspect of this position involves mentoring service engineers to enhance team capabilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage their diary independently, after the probation period an in-office presence to attend project meetings will be required.

Key Tasks

  • Lead and support large complex projects from sales handover, through to completion and customer handover, under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager, using the internal and external engineering resource.
  • Coordinate and utilise internal and external engineering resources effectively to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain best practices within the project team embedding them into the engineering team’s operations.
  • Promote a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) culture, fostering continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Provide feedback to the Sales and Technical Teams on installation improvements to enhance future project delivery, supported by structured regular communication updates.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives, tracking and reporting monthly savings
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to generate and deliver cost-saving measures related to installations.
  • Assist in developing clear, measurable metrics and KPIs for project handovers, working closely with Sales, Technical, Purchasing, and Service teams.
  • Report on installation status for complex projects, helping create a simplified and effective reporting structure with KPIs for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP).
  • Prepare and submit monthly project management reports to the Senior Project Manager and projects report to the Engineering Director.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of service engineers, enhancing the team’s technical and operational capabilities.
  • Actively shape the installation team, instilling best practices and promoting a collaborative culture.
  • Support training initiatives to upskill team members and ensure alignment with project requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in an engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, or similar) or relevant industry experience with the willingness to pursue further training in this area.
  • A clean Driving Licence with the ability to travel as required.
  • Project Leadership: Proven experience in leading, managing, or supporting engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery within time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Performance Monitoring: Demonstrated ability to monitor and report on KPIs and performance metrics particularly in regulated and structured organisational environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of CAD software, engineering drawings and manufacturing principles, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge effectively in project execution.
