A recruitment agency is seeking a Project Controls Engineer for an initial 12-month contract in London. The role involves managing project controls, attending meetings with contractors, and producing progress reports. Overview

Project Controls Engineer/ Planning Engineer

Initial 12 Month Contract – Long term work

Inside IR35 set up

Victoria, London – 8 days per month working from home which you can use as you wish

GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT A LARGE UK CCS PROJECT

Purpose: To support the Package Manager to control contractor performances and support Project Control Department in preparing and update package/contract schedules and reporting activities

Responsibilities
  • As the Project Controls Engineer/ Planning Engineer, you will support the Package Manager (PM) in managing the project controls function for the allocated Work Package(s).
  • Attend meeting with contractor and perform site visits.
  • Maintain and update the Package control schedule, and support the Project control department to integrate it in the Integrated LBCCS schedule.
  • Provide the PM and the Project Control Department with progress reporting including schedule updates, KPIs, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and control project compliance in respect of the project's contractual obligations and procedural requirements.
  • Verify Contractor progress and application for payment.
  • Assist the package team in development of action plans to avoid cost & schedule overruns through Value Engineering.
  • Support the review and challenge forecast trend analysis for the package schedule and costs.
  • Analyse project deliverables status to review and challenge forecast man-hours to complete.
  • Review forecast with the Project Manager/Engineering Leadership Team.
  • Review and monitor projects performance and present results to the package team.
  • Prepare reports to analyse project progress in development or execution stages.
  • Manage the database for the project lessons learned.
  • Maintain detailed change management records and support WPM to evaluate change orders, if any.
  • Support WPM to monitor progress on permitting.
Education & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Good knowledge of English (in writing and speaking)

Required Experience and Technical Competencies
  • Working knowledge of project controls tools and principles.
  • Relevant experience as Planner in the O&G industry, particularly with operating companies.
  • Familiar with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with SharePoint is necessary. Experience in the use of company tools (Assai, Xflow, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Understanding of challenges and opportunities associated with transitioning from an oil and gas industry to a low carbon future.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English is mandatory; any other language is a plus).
  • Good computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Project Execution / Project Controls.
