Job summary

A UK Higher Education institution is seeking an Academic Tutor to join their Higher Education team. This temporary full-time role involves supporting students both pastorally and academically across HE Blended programmes, developing and delivering resources, and guiding students to succeed. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of higher-level study skills and experience in motivating students to excel. Academic Tutor – Loughborough College

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, dynamic and committed Academic Tutor to join our Higher Education team. Here at Loughborough College, we are determined to ensure that all of our HE Blended learning students reach their full potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to lead successful futures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students, both pastorally and academically, across all HE Blended programmes.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support through a range of approaches including group tutorials, formal meetings and one-to-one meetings.
  • Signpost students to relevant college services.
  • Develop and deliver academic skills learning resources, both face-to-face and online through our virtual learning environment.
  • Motivate young people to achieve excellent results and help students reflect on what they need to do to improve, ensuring that appropriate interventions are in place for them to succeed.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the higher-level study skills required in Higher Education.
  • Experience of motivating students to achieve excellent results.
  • Experience of delivering academic support through tutorials, meetings and resource development.

Pastoral Tutor – New City College (Redbridge Campus)

The Role: We are now seeking a Pastoral Tutor to join us on a maternity cover basis, helping students to achieve their potential and make the most of their time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students, both pastorally and academically, across all programmes.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support through a range of approaches.
  • Signpost students to relevant college services.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree.
  • Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills, including delivery to groups.
  • Experience of working in an education and a Higher Education setting is preferable.
  • Transferable skills of flexibility, communication, initiative and building positive relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with lecturers, support staff and students.
