Role Description

The successful applicant will manage a cross‑functional team of both experienced professionals and team leaders as well as manage medium‑sized programmes or multiple smaller programmes within an Aerospace manufacturing environment.

You will also monitor strategic planning efforts; present progress reports, recommend proactive solutions for programme problems, manage the P&L. The role will also cover managing sub‑tier suppliers and supporting contract negotiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads programmes to ensure adherence to programme plans, schedules and budgets in an Integrated Program Team working with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Commercial, Finance, Quality, Aftermarket and Business Development
  • Manages the P&L of the programmes to ensure profitability targets are met and manages multiple sub‑tier suppliers
  • Develops milestones, programme plans, schedules and budgets to ensure that the organisation’s objectives are met
  • Consolidates and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the programmes
  • Monitors strategic planning efforts for and proactively drives programmes
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement initiatives to optimise efficiency and quality
  • Identifies and reacts to programme problems and recommends solutions, such as allocation of resources, changing contractual specifications or coordinating responses to customer action items
  • Supports the development of new business opportunities, acts as internal and external customer focal
  • Supports the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operation budgets, specification and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect interests
  • Manages programme scope increase or decrease via change management processes and is a change agent to drive continuous improvements in a highly challenging environment

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education
  • Educated to Degree level in a STEM discipline - ideally technical.
Related Experience
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite and JDE / SAP)
  • Commercial knowledge / awareness and a strong focus on the delivery of objectives
  • Good programme planning skills (Microsoft Project or Primavera)
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management
  • Proven strong programme management skills and experience in leading programmes
  • Proven people leadership in a matrix organisation
  • External and internal customer exposure experience
  • Knowledge of NPI product lifecycle – JDP, PDR, CDR and FAI
Certification(s) / License(s)
  • Formal PM training / accreditation such as PMP or APM

Prince 2 desirable
