Job Title: Production Shift Manager
Salary: £35,000 + 10% Bonus
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (2 Days / 2 Nights), 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am

Location: Rotherham

About the Role

Our client are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Shift Manager to join their fast-paced Manufacturing operation. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining the highest safety and quality standards, and leading a team to achieve consistent performance across all production activities.

As a key member of the Production team, you will take ownership of your shift, ensuring that KPIs are met, processes are followed, and continuous improvement opportunities are actioned effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards, ensuring all team members are correctly equipped with PPE and taking corrective actions where required.
  • Report all accidents promptly and oversee timely, thorough investigations.
  • Champion safety within your area, promoting engagement and continuous improvement.

Production Management

  • Manage day-to-day production activities, ensuring quality targets are achieved through effective use of KPIs.
  • Ensure completion of Safety Start-Up Sheets and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Maintain correct staffing levels and ensure all agency personnel are fully identified and managed appropriately.
  • Ensure all Critical Control Point (CCP) checks and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee GMP and housekeeping standards to ensure audit readiness at all times.

People Leadership

  • Coach, motivate and guide team members to enhance performance.
  • Manage absence and disciplinary matters in line with company policies.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new team members.

Operational Support & Reporting

  • Identify and report any plant or packing issues to your Line Manager and the incoming shift.
  • Complete all required actions arising from Morning and SIC meetings.
  • Ensure all Oracle data is entered accurately and understand the implications of incorrect entries.
  • Liaise with Engineering to ensure swift and effective maintenance support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure excellent customer service.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve functionality, efficiency, and reduce non-conformances within Production.
  • Deliver improvements as part of the department's continuous improvement programme.
  • Complete any ad hoc tasks requested by the Department Manager.

Scope of the Role

  • Ensure robust health, safety and wellness practices are consistently applied.
  • Investigate all near misses and accidents, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain full compliance with all processes, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure accurate performance data is provided to the Factory Performance Administrator.
  • Attend SIC meetings to report performance and support improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience within a Food Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven skills in leading and motivating teams with effective people management experience.
  • Strong organisational and influencing skills with the ability to assert authority when required.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, pressurised environment with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build robust working relationships.
  • Competent numeracy, literacy, and PC/system skills.
  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Pay & Benefits

  • £35,000 annual salary.
  • 10% performance bonus.
  • 4 on / 4 off rotation(2 days / 2 nights, 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am).
  • 23 days annual leave(including 8 statutory holidays).
  • Flexible holidays, with the option to buy up to 3 additional days (subject to qualifying criteria).
