Richardson’s UK operations encompass oat milling, malting, animal feed and ingredient processing. Operating under Richardson Oat Milling, Crisp Malt, EDME, and Micronized Food Products (MFP), Richardson supplies the domestic and international food, brewing, and distilling industries.

We currently have an opportunity for a Production Supervisor at our Crisp Malt, Alloa location.

Responsible for
  • Production Operatives.
Key Duties and responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the production operatives.
  • Organise task deployment of production and relevant site activities, including monitoring, supporting and checking of completeness to the standards required.
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of company documents, including, but not limited to, cleaning schedules, training records and production record sheets.
  • Maximise production throughput according to the requirements and capabilities of the plant.
  • Inspection of production areas and reporting of any non-conformities.
  • Review, update and train out Safe Systems of Work and Toolbox Talks
  • Daily inspection of production samples and appropriate adjustments made as a result.
  • Report to the Production Manager of any issues identified and any changes required.
  • Deputise for the Production Manager in their absence
  • Ensure that the Material Flow system is up to date and information is entered correctly.
  • Organise and monitoring of filling out loading bins.
  • Always Ensure staff adherence of Health and Safety systems and procedures.
  • Timely reporting of any hazards or accidents. Ensure operators are reporting hazards.
  • Weekend and weekly on call coverage.
  • Supervision support of site activities.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety procedures are being followed and that incidents, near misses are investigated, reported and recorded on safety portal.
  • Ensure any potential quality impacts are reported, as well as opportunities for improvement.
General Responsibilities

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential / Desirable

  • Experience in Food Manufacturing
  • Malting experience
  • Strong communication skills to develop working relationships
  • Leadership or Management qualification
  • Able to work within a fast-paced environment to ensure process timings and quality requirements consistently met
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours
  • Forklift Truck licence
