Job description

Production Operator – Howdon, 3-month temporary contract, Monday–Friday. Pertemps are working alongside Northumbrian Water to recruit a Production Operator to join their team at the Howdon site on a 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a critical operational environment, supporting the effective treatment of wastewater and water assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain wastewater and water treatment assets to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Liaise effectively with and coordinate EMI personnel
  • Maximise plant performance, including chemicals, energy, and other assets
  • Carry out basic effluent and mixed liquor sampling, interpret results, and implement appropriate changes
  • Use systems to fault-find and optimise plant utilisation
  • Use IT systems such as Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes for reporting and operational tasks
  • Carry out basic instrument calibration and plant fault finding
Requirements
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to identify issues and implement solutions
  • Competence in risk assessment procedures would be beneficial but not essential
  • Appropriate fitness level for confined space entries, including use of escape sets
  • Lock-off and tag-off (LOTO) competence
