Job summary

A high-volume advanced manufacturer in the United Kingdom is seeking a Production Engineer to support production and new product development. SG Technologies is a high-volume advanced manufacturer of precise electromagnetic components and subassemblies.

We are embarking on many new projects in areas such as vehicle electrification and advanced electrical motors, all for well recognised global customers.

We are looking for a Production Engineer to undertake an exciting hands‑on production engineering role to support production and new product development introduction.

This role will provide the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and offers opportunities for career progression.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new tooling schemes for parts being produced
  • Produce prototypes, including limited production of parts
  • Engineer responsibility for press tooling
  • Troubleshoot production issues on existing equipment
  • Work on production improvementsParticipate in design reviews for new and current products
  • Write specifications for new equipment for the new products we are developing
  • Project manage the introduction of new machines and train others on the new machines/processes
  • Present solutions and ideas to the wider team (manufacturing, engineering, quality)
  • Develop a strong working understanding of multilevel press setting, single level mechanical & hydraulic press setting, rotary presses, moulding, grinding processes, heat treatment processes
  • Develop a working understanding of automotive APQP processes
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship route
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role (hand‑on mechanical and electrical workshop skills)
  • Strong communication skills and self‑motivated, driven and persistent to achieve demanding targets
  • Skills and experience: ability to systemise critical outputs in drawings, work instructions, FMEAs and control plans
Work Pattern
  • 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
