Job Summary

A well-established law firm in Devon is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Probate Solicitor to join its respected Private Client department. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of probate matters, including estate administration, inheritance tax issues, and providing advice on wills and estate planning.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with strong technical knowledge and exceptional client care skills to join a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of probate and estate administration matters from start to finish
  • Provide expert legal advice on wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney, inheritance tax, and intestacy
  • Draft and review legal documents including wills and trust deeds
  • Liaise with executors, beneficiaries, HMRC, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and SRA regulations
  • Maintain high standards of client care and build long‑term client relationships
  • Contribute to business development and networking initiatives as required
Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales (3+ years PQE preferred, though NQ candidates with relevant experience will be considered)
  • Proven experience in probate and estate administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
  • Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office
  • STEP qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
