Job description
Overview

We\'re seeking 2 experienced Private Sector Housing Officers to join a proactive Private Sector Housing team within a West London local authority. This role involves carrying out property inspections under various Housing Act 2004 licensing schemes (Mandatory/Additional/Selective HMOs and Section 257), identifying hazards using HHSRS, producing work schedules, and supporting enforcement actions in line with council policy. You\'ll investigate unlicensed or non-compliant properties, gather evidence to a criminal standard, and assist in preparing enforcement notices or prosecution cases. Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, property licensing regulations, and HHSRS is essential (certification required or must be obtained within 6 months). You\'ll also liaise with landlords, tenants, councillors, and external agencies to support housing standards across the borough.

You will mainly be asked to deal with reactive complaints and you do not need to have experience in dealing with HMOs as it is all single-family dwelling or a self-contained properties. You will need to know how to serve notices.

This is a 3-month initial contract, offering £42 per hour via umbrella, with a likely extension. You\'ll need access to your own vehicle and the ability to carry out site visits across the borough. You will be needed on district 1-2 days per week and can work from home 3-4 days a week!
