Principal Electrical Engineer Bournemouth or Reading

We have a new opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a team in either Bournemouth or Reading, supporting major projects across commercial, residential and mission‑critical sectors.

You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality electrical design, leading project direction, and helping shape the continued growth of both offices. The Bournemouth office has been established for more than 45 years, building strong regional relationships and technical expertise across a broad range of sectors.

Reading is a thriving and fast‑growing centre of development, offering opportunities to work on transformational local schemes while maintaining excellent connections to wider regional markets.

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll help deliver robust technical solutions, strengthen client relationships and support the development of emerging talent across the business.

What you'll be doing

• Leading electrical design delivery on a range of complex and multidisciplinary projects.
• Developing strategic design concepts and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
• Acting as a key client‑facing representative, attending meetings and translating project requirements for the team.
• Monitoring resources, programme and fees with project and team leads.
• Providing technical guidance, support and mentoring to apprentices, graduates and engineers.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines to ensure coordinated, high‑quality output.

About You

• Strong track record as an Electrical Engineer delivering complex design projects.
• Proficient with modern design tools and technical delivery processes (BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux, Relux, etc.).
• Confident working with clients, contractors and architects in a consultancy environment.
• Strong communicator with an open, collaborative and supportive approach.
• Experience developing junior engineers and contributing to team capability growth.
