Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for a 3-month contract in Southampton, paying up to £74 per hour. The role involves delivering work packages for communications system development, requiring experience in military communication systems, RF hardware, and proficiency with MATLAB. Candidates must hold or be eligible for high-level UK security clearance. Responsibilities include managing system requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and producing technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Management of system requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for system architecture.
  • Model communication system waveforms and networks.
  • Produce clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Report to the Project Engineering Lead on work package completion.
  • Collaborate with the waveform team across airborne communication projects.
  • Demonstrate good team working behaviors and manage own workload.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers as necessary.

Skills

Military and/or civil communication systems experience
Communication system analysis/modelling/simulation tools
Understanding of RF communication system hardware
Knowledge of Communication Air Interface Protocols
Knowledge of mobile communications waveforms
Ability to produce detailed technical reports
Graduate degree in relevant engineering or scientific discipline
Knowledge of Digital Modulation and Channel Coding
Knowledge of Filtering in Digital Signal Processing

Education

Graduate degree in relevant engineering, mathematics or related scientific discipline
