Overview

Principal Systems Engineer – Cheshunt

The Principal Systems Engineer position is part of the Systems Engineering team within a leading UK-based technology company specializing in advanced radar solutions. This role involves working on both internally and externally funded systems projects that utilize cutting-edge solid-state radar technology.

The successful candidate will engage across the entire systems engineering lifecycle, from initial concept development through to system delivery and final acceptance.

Key Experience
  • Ideally educated to degree level in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline; however, equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Proven track record in systems design, integration, and testing, particularly in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong understanding of the full systems and product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to final delivery.
  • Broad awareness of multiple engineering domains, including software, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
Key Requirements
  • Solid understanding of radar and radio systems, including their principles, components, and operational applications
  • Extensive experience across the full product lifecycle, including concept generation, prototyping, development, production, and in-service support.
  • Broad knowledge of working with test facilities and conducting verification activities in accordance with external standards such as MIL-STD, Def Stan, and IEC.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and integrating systems that utilize various communication protocols (e.g., RS485, RS232, TCP/IP, CANBus).
  • Background in product development tailored for deployment on naval platforms.
