We are seeking two Principal Surveyors: one in our Asset Management team and one in our Planned Maintenance team. These are key roles in the organisation, supporting the Contract Managers who lead the teams and colleagues within the teams. You will play an active role in ensuring the condition and safety of our customer’s homes.

We are looking for dynamic, innovative and people-focused candidates, who have a proven track record of delivering and improving operational activities. It is essential that you have a broad knowledge of current legislative and regulatory requirements. You will be passionate about supporting people in housing need.

Key Duties for each role are:
Principal Surveyor – Asset Management
  • Manage the Estate Maintenance team and service.
  • Oversee the operational management of the ground’s maintenance, garden maintenance, communal cleaning and arboriculture contracts.
  • Oversee Crime Prevention works.
  • Oversee Derby Homes portfolio of HRA Shops.
  • Oversee the management of structural project works to the Derby Homes housing stock.
Principal Surveyor – Planned Maintenance
  • Complete property surveys and reports of residential properties.
  • Provide specifications for refurbishment works, liaise with internal and external contractors to complete works on time and within budget.
  • Produce costs estimates for residential refurbishments.
  • Manage the acquisition process for Derby Homes.
  • Be compliant with CDM, and Pre‑construction information.
  • Liaise with DCC estates in relation to RTB acquisitions, and development acquisitions, and enable smooth handover of properties.
  • Analysis work to improve systems and services.
