A leading healthcare provider in Scotland is seeking a dedicated psychologist to join their Specialist Children’s Services. In this role, you will provide psychological interventions and support within a multidisciplinary team focused on child mental health. Ideal candidates will have relevant professional registration and experience in integrated care. The position offers opportunities for career development and is suitable for newly qualifying psychologists. The role requires effective communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care.

Working within Specialist Children’s Services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which encompasses Community Paediatrics, CAMHS & Acute Paediatrics, you will be committed to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families.
You will work in multi‑disciplinary teams whose aim is to provide high quality support, assessment and interventions in line with evidence based practice and national policies/agendas. You will have knowledge and experience of working in teams where care is coordinated and you will fully understand the impact of integrated care and services. You will be professionally registered and have relevant experience in planning and providing person‑centred and outcome based care. A strong culture of support, development, CPD, reflective practice and supervision exists to maximise our patients experience, safety and outcomes and your career progression.

Tier 4 CAMHS are part of Specialist Children’s Services, providing mental health services in the community and through the Regional and National Inpatient Units. Working in Tier 4 CAMHS offers the opportunity to be involved with a diverse service user population. We are committed to providing person‑centred care, trauma informed care and compassionate care in order to help young people on the road to recovery. Our team aims to offer compassionate care centred in kindness and with the aim of supporting young people and their families through their mental health journey. We would welcome applicants who reflect those values. These posts cover the West of Scotland Adolescent Inpatient Unit for young people with complex mental health needs. There is up to 16 sessions available and we are open to configuration of two posts up to the amount of sessions available.
Newly qualifying or soon to qualify psychologists are welcome to apply.
You will be expected to work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychologist delivering groups and prescribed interventions with training and supervision. Psychological interventions are a key part of the care delivered in this inpatient unit.
There is a focus on complex case formulation and care planning in this role. You will be expected to provide psychological consultation and support to a large multi‑disciplinary team to support psychological understanding, facilitate collaborative care planning, and enhance the provision of psychological care across the inpatient unit. There will be opportunity to become involved in a range of service development activities to develop skills in psychological leadership and quality improvement activities.
You will be part of a grouping of more than 100 Psychologists in Specialist Children’s Services and of around 350 psychologists in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. There are good links both to the West of Scotland Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme (University of Glasgow) and to the MSc in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People (University of Edinburgh).
