Job summary

You will oversee the adaptive treatment planning process and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver cutting-edge radiotherapy. Ideal candidates will have advanced knowledge of radiotherapy physics, experience with MR Linac technology, and be HCPC registered. Qualifications

  • Ability to act as a Medical Physics Expert for Radiotherapy as defined in IR(ME)R 2017.
  • Experience of MR Linac technology.
  • Advanced theoretical & practical knowledge of ionising radiation and radiotherapy physics.

Responsibilities

  • Management of all technical aspects of medical physics and planning activities related to the MR Linac.
  • Responsible for core planning activities within the MRL team.
  • Providing effective clinical leadership for staff working in the MRL service.

Skills

Ability to act as a Medical Physics Expert for Radiotherapy
Advanced theoretical & practical knowledge of ionising radiation
Advanced knowledge of stereotactic planning
Experience with MR Linac technology

Education

Masters degree in relevant scientific, technical, or healthcare related discipline

This is a fantastic opportunity to join HCA Healthcare's new MR‑Linac service, as the Principal Physicist (MR‑Linac Planning). An Elekta Unity MR‑Linac has been installed and is due to go live in Q2 2026.

Main duties of the job

The Principal Physicist (MR‑Linac Planning) is the Medical Physics Expert responsible for developing and overseeing the online adaptive treatment planning process on the Elekta Unity MR‑Linac.

In this role you will work with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to provide cutting edge adaptive radiotherapy.

Management of all technical aspects of medical physics and planning activities as it pertains to the MR Linac

Responsible for the core planning activities within the MRL team

Support in the appropriate course of action in highly complex situations which may impact the service delivery

Providing effective clinical leadership for staff working in the MRL service

  • Advanced theoretical & practical knowledge of ionising radiation and radiotherapy physics
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of stereotactic planning and associated requirements
  • Experience of MR Linac technology
