Principal Ecologist - Warrington Office

About the Role

I am looking for experienced and driven Principal Ecologist to join a well-established, highly successful ecological consultancy at their Warrington office. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior ecological professional to take on a leadership role within a company that has built an outstanding reputation for delivering pragmatic, high-quality ecological services across both private and public sectors throughout the UK.

Most of the projects fall within the renewables sector and offer the chance to work on projects with a small physical footprint, providing the opportunity to have a positive environmental impact, even on large scale construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of complex ecological consultancy services across diverse sectors including infrastructure, residential development, and commercial projects
  • Provide specialist technical expertise in Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA), and Environmental Statement chapters
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of protected species licensing, survey design, and mitigation strategy implementation
  • Provide line management, mentoring, and technical support to ecological consultancy team members
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, statutory bodies, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current environmental legislation, planning policy, and industry standards
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality technical reports, licence applications, and management plans
