Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Role and responsibilities

The post holder will be a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. This exciting role with NHS GG&C Occupational Health service will primarily involve the assessment and treatment of the mental health of those referred to the service. The post holder will work as a key member of the existing Occupational Health service and their multidisciplinary team in their delivery of a comprehensive service at a time of growth and development.

You will be expected to assess, support and treat employees to achieve and sustain a level of mental health and wellbeing with the emphasis on maximising their potential in work and in life.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct detailed mental health assessments and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide evidence-based treatments and interventions in line with best practice.
• Work within an Occupational Health setting and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
• Support employees to maximise mental wellbeing for work and life.

Qualifications and experience

Previous experience of detailed mental health assessment, formulation and treatment and current evidence based best practice treatments and interventions is essential. Experience of working in an Occupational Health setting is desirable.

Skills and attributes

The successful candidate will have exemplary communication, assessment and organisational skills with a positive and enthusiastic approach to this developing aspect of the service. They will be able to work independently but also function effectively within the larger team, whilst demonstrating adaptability to the diverse and variable demands upon our service.
