The role involves providing additional learning support and delivering group interventions. Year 1 / KS1 Teaching Assistant

Contract: Long-term position to support within a Year 1 class.
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Start: January 2026
Working hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45-15:30 with a 30-minute lunch break each day.

I am working closely with the Headteacher of a reputable mainstream Primary School located in Longridge. The headteacher is keen to welcome someone who has a drive for supporting all children in reaching their full potential. It is a fully inclusive school, and all staff members work collaboratively to ensure quality teaching and learning takes place.

Main duties

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant in this role, the main duties will involve closing gaps in learning, providing additional learning support, and delivering group interventions to 3-4 pupils requiring support with Speech and Language/Phonics. These will be directed by the class teacher, with activities planned and ready to implement. The ability to adopt a flexible approach is essential, as activities may need to be adapted to meet the needs of the children. Building and maintaining positive, trusting relationships with pupils is key to supporting their learning and development.
