Job summary

A local education provider in Hull is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a primary school to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism and non-verbal communication. This role involves providing 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning plans, and working closely with class teachers. Ideal candidates will have a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification and experience in a school or caregiving setting. A strong understanding of safeguarding is essential.

Teaching Assistant (SEN Support) Hull Primary School

Full Time Term Time Only Academic Year

Salary: £90 to £105 a day

Contract: Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School Hull Hull, supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Non‑Verbal, and SEMH Needs.

The Role as a Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting children in EYFS and Key Stage 1, with a focus on pupils with Autism.
  • Working with children who may be non-verbal, adapting communication methods to suit individual needs.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to ensure pupils can access learning and thrive in the school environment.
  • Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of tailored learning and care plans.
Key Information regarding Primary Teaching Assistant
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time Only)
  • Location: Hull
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
  • Experience working in a school setting, or in a role supporting children or vulnerable individuals.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents.

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
