We are seeking a dedicated Teacher to join our alternative education provision, focusing on students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role requires a professional who can teach in small groups, demonstrating flexibility, sensitivity, patience, and resilience. The successful candidate will engage students with creativity and passion, building strong rapport with students, families, and carers, and liaising with various agencies to enhance student learning and inclusion.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Create an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of learner achievement, success, and progression.
- Plan, produce, and update schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements.
- Deliver lessons and learning activities tailored to individual and group needs, reflecting a deep understanding of subject, curriculum, and pedagogical knowledge.
- Develop and implement systems for monitoring and evaluating learning activities to ensure effectiveness and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain regular monitoring, assessment, record-keeping, and reporting of students' progress.
- Manage classroom behaviour, ensuring good order and discipline, and safeguarding student wellbeing.
- Build effective and supportive relationships with students and families/carers.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure effective pastoral support for learners.
- Utilise support staff effectively within the classroom and undertake relevant administrative tasks associated with teaching.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in working with young people, including those with complex behaviours and additional learning needs.
- Extensive behaviour management experience.
- Relevant classroom teaching experience.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in using a variety of teaching and organisational styles and resources, including ICT.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Capable of handling emotionally demanding situations.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum, behavioural techniques and theories, and statutory requirements related to education.
