Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract:Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school setting?

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to work in primary schools across Rotherham. This is an excellent opportunity to help children access education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive and structured environment.

About the Role:

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in assisting pupils with special educational needs, enabling them to engage with the curriculum, reach their academic targets, and grow both socially and emotionally. Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals, you will help deliver tailored support that meets each pupil’s unique needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment by adapting resources and teaching strategies.
  • Support class teachers in monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, helping to build their social skills and emotional resilience.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere that promotes personal development.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or specialist setting is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or support (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, TA certificate) is preferred.
  • A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
