Job summary

A local government body seeks an experienced administrative professional for a part-time role in a school. The successful candidate will assist the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team with developing policies and ensuring effective management of clerical functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong customer care skills, and a typing qualification are essential. This position requires joining the PVG Scheme for working with children. Starting salary is £28,520 pro rata, working 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Job Description

To ensure the effective administrative functioning within the school and to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures within the school.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team in introducing, maintaining and reviewing administrative policies and procedures within the school.
  • Provide appropriate financial information and administrative advice for the Head Teacher and the Senior Management Team within the school.
  • Ensure the effective management and maintenance of the Seemis Management System within the school.
  • Manage all general clerical and administrative functions within the school.
  • Adopt procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in the Council's Employee Review and Development Programme.
The Individual
  • Experience in administrative and clerical work including financial management systems, composing letters / reports, record keeping, filing and dealing with the public
  • Recognised typing / word processing qualification (eg typing RSA stages 11 or SCOTVEC Text Processing Certificates).
  • Experience of Microsoft Office including software packages such as Excel, Access).
  • High level of accuracy in work

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
