Here at Long-Term Teachers, we are working closely with a special primary school in the Bristol area. They are seeking a full-time class teacher to lead a KS1 class of ASD & SEMH students.

This school cares for a range of special needs. The class requiring a teacher is a lovely KS1 class of ASD & SEMH students. The school is well-established, beautiful, and has exciting developments planned for the next year.

The Role

This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will lead a class of 8 KS1 students, supported by a few TAs. You will be responsible for planning and marking your own lessons, with adequate PPA time provided.

It is essential that you are confident in managing challenging behaviour and have experience working with ASD students. Applications are welcome from teachers with mainstream teaching backgrounds who wish to gain experience in a special school setting.

You will be expected to:

  • Be adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the pupils.
  • Have good experience working with ASD or SEMH students.
  • Lead your TAs' professional development confidently.
  • Collaborate closely with the SENCO to provide individualised support to each pupil.
  • Support students both personally and educationally.
