Job Title: Price Control Analyst - Sustainability

Location Glasgow, Edinburgh or Prenton (Merseyside)

Salary from £53,280 to £66,600 + Excellent Benefits Programme

Responsible for supporting the Sustainability Manager in the development of Environmental and Sustainability initiatives and incentives for Energy Networks for our Regulated Price Controls. Specific support will be provided for the development, submission and response to Ofgem's Determinations of our Price Control Business Plans (now at RIIO-3) and related deliverability and readiness activities.

To develop new environmental and wider sustainability incentives or initiatives utilising sound economic justification. This will require either a strong understanding of how SPEN operates as a regulated entity or having an in-depth knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues particularly policy. This will also require having the ability to liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Ofgem, the other Transmission and Distribution Network Operators and our existing Environmental and Sustainability teams to ensure consistency with our business as usual activities.

What you'll be doing
  • Supporting the Sustainability Manager and Energy Networks management team to develop the Price control environmental and sustainability initiatives and incentives, specifically the Environmental Action Plan.

  • Building new relationships with Environmental Stakeholders to ensure their views are considered in the formulation of the price control Business plans. This will require liaising with the Sustainability Team, Price Control team, engineers and Licences to ensure alignment with the project and business as usual activities.

  • Support the Price Control agenda across the organisation by delivering a comprehensive service to all external and internal stakeholders including participation in working groups and communication of SPEN approach.

  • Attend all relevant Ofgem and Internal workshops.

  • Establish a list of key Environmental stakeholders for the Price Control working with the Price Control Stakeholder Engagement Manager. Stakeholder Engagement at all levels will be required.

  • Provide technical expertise to support the Policy and Economics Manager. Researching issues and developments and translating these into proposals for meaningful plans and measures for the wider business.

  • Review and verify relevant Ofgem submissions (Price Control Business Plans) prepared by SPEN, prior to final approval by the Policy and Economics Manager

  • Once the Price Control has concluded, the outcomes should be communicated and rolled out into the business via formal workshops.

What you'll bring
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. Preferably with a post graduate qualification in sustainability, environmental or economics.

  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability requirements for an electricity network operator.

  • Ability to justify proposals to the regulator utilising environmental, social and economic analysis

  • Demonstrable experience of liaising, negotiating and influencing at a management level in business

  • In-depth knowledge of developments in the sustainability and environmental agenda.

  • Training and coaching skills with the ability to communicate technical information in a concise way to a non-technical audience

  • Strong analytical and rigorous approach to data management
