GRFServices Ltd is part of General Re Corporation, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The London managing agent arm of Gen Re is Faraday Underwriting Limited, which predominantly consists of Faraday Syndicate 435, a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.

The Operations team has responsibility for many of Faraday’s technical administrative functions. You will assist with supporting Faraday’s underwriting administration and credit control function, aiding and liaising with the underwriting teams, outsourced entities, brokers and other support teams that facilitate Faraday operations.

Context of the Role

Faraday’s Operations team is made up of ten permanent staff. They include the Chief Operating Officer plus one credit control, three reinsurance and five underwriting administration associates. Faraday outsources a large part risk data input and credit control process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and quality control of initial policy data capture and updates to system records that are processed by an outsourced entity.
  • Liaise with underwriters and the policy data capture team to resolve queries and issues.
  • Assist with chasing brokers for overdue premium in a timely manner to avoid increasing debt and incurring bad debt charges.
  • Review EPI and signings for binders and lineslips to ensure prompt premium collection.
  • Liaison with sourced entity regarding processes.
  • Ad-hoc credit control reviews.
  • Liaison with the Bureau and brokers to resolve queries and obtain Bureau system information.
  • Acting on account issues raised in weekly and monthly reports.
  • Assisting with team projects.
  • User acceptance testing of system upgrades and defect resolution releases.
  • Compliance with Faraday procedures and internal controls.
Qualifications & Experience
  • The successful candidate will have 1 to 2 years’ experience in operations/credit control within the London Insurance Market, preferably working with a Lloyd’s syndicate.
  • You will have proven to be able to work well in a team, using your own initiative, coping with demanding workloads, and being able to communicate well with underwriting teams and senior associates.
  • Knowledge of Verisk’s (Sequel) Eclipse system would be advantageous.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are a requirement.
  • Good communication skills are necessary for this role. Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook would be beneficial.
  • Progression towards Chartered Insurance Institute examinations will be viewed favourably.
