Job Summary

Main Purpose: To provide nursing treatment and advice to patients attending the treatment room. Working within agreed clinical and administrative protocols. Clinically responsible to the partners of the practice. Line responsibility to the Practice Manager.

About Us

Weavers Medical is a large practice spread across two locations, Kettering and Mawsley looking after almost 30,000 patients. The practice has a large clinical team comprising of GPs, practice nurses, HCAs, mental health practitioners and a paramedic. The clinical team is supported by a large administrative team.

Hours of Work: 27.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent (Part‑time)

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake various injections and record results on the clinical system.
  • Take and record patient blood pressure measurements.
  • Test urine samples and record findings.
  • Chaperone patients for other clinical staff members.
  • Nebulise patients as directed by medical staff.
  • Carry out ECG recordings as indicated by medical staff.
  • Remove sutures.
  • Undertake dressings and/or support HCAs when undertaking dressings.
  • Perform general injections given by RGN.
  • Administer childhood immunisations, ensuring schedules are followed and missed immunisations are scheduled.
  • Administer travel immunisations in accordance with national guidelines and immunisation schedules.
  • Participate in telephone consultations with patients regarding data and health promotion.
  • Ensure accurate entries are made in computer for all patient contacts.
  • Check communication media during each duty period for timely awareness.
  • Participate in regular Nursing Team Meetings.
  • Maintain effective liaison with all other disciplines in the practice with confidentiality.
  • Provide services to patients by appointment.
  • Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety and security in accordance with the Practice Health & Safety Policy.
Professional Requirements

Must be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with at least one year post‑registration experience. Must work in accordance with UKCC Code of Conduct, have excellent communication skills, and be a member of a professional body (e.g. RCN, MDU). Must have current UK professional registration.
