Job description
Overview

The NHS is changing. More emphasis on community-based care means there’s never been a better time to join us. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Practice Educator to join our professional team.

We’re a close team but we’re never exclusive; if you can bring a professional approach and fresh ideas we would love to hear from you.

Service context

The children’s short breaks service collaborates with KCC children’s residential short breaks units to ensure that children with complex health needs can safely access the units for their short break stay. Practice educators work in a small team which strengthens the overall capacity of the service, ensuring training and competency assessments of KCC unit staff are prioritised and effectively delivered across each unit. This is achieved through training and assessing the competencies of KCC staff, who provide hands-on care to meet the health needs of children and young people.

Responsibilities
  • Practice educators triage and assess to identify any health tasks that can be delegated to KCC unit staff, who are then trained, supervised, and competency-assessed to deliver the health tasks.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and observation throughout the year, ensuring KCC staff feel supported and remain competent.
  • Provide updated training and re-assess competency annually or sooner if required.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC; demonstrable commitment to delivering high standards of patient care and services.
  • Willingness to work in a flexible manner and support patients and staff with flexible working arrangements.
  • Full UK driving licence if driving is a requirement of the role (as a community Trust, driving may be required).
  • Support available for candidates with disabilities to enable employment; contact recruitment for assistance.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and the ability to work with colleagues from varied backgrounds.
  • Willingness to provide information about protected characteristics on application and participate in guaranteed interview schemes where applicable.
Additional information
  • Vaccination: We encourage colleagues in clinical and non-clinical roles with direct patient contact to be fully vaccinated to ensure safety of staff and patients.
  • Flexible working: We are a flexible-working friendly organisation and will discuss arrangements that suit both the organisation and you.
  • See career pathways at KCHFT and note that many roles require the ability to drive; confirmation of a full UK driving licence may be requested during the application process.
  • Carefully review the job description and person specification; provide evidence in your application of how you meet the criteria.
  • If you need an application form in an alternative format, contact the recruitment team. All information provided should be true and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • For any questions, the recruiting manager can be contacted via the job advert; views on how to apply and next steps will be provided.
  • Applications may close early if there is a high level of interest; apply as soon as possible.
