This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Role Purpose

Everest is building a dynamic Energy and Construction team to provide market leading insurance services to the Oil and Gas, Power and Renewables Energy industries as they navigate through the energy transition. To support this we are hiring a Power Underwriter in London, an exciting new position! At Everest, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do and, in this role, you’ll be working alongside our experienced Underwriters in a supportive environment. We are looking for a technical individual with proven insurance experience and a passion for the industry as it goes through a period of intense development and technological change. We seek an ambitious individual who will help grow the existing portfolio and who wishes to diversify their experience for global expansion.

Core Responsibilities
  • As the Power Underwriter, you’ll help to manage and underwrite a diverse portfolio of Power risks. You’ll ensure alignment with our underwriting guidelines and appetite, contributing to the profitable growth of the portfolio.
  • Leveraging your existing broker relationships and building new ones, you’ll access business through both our Company and Syndicate platforms, identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
  • You’ll play a key role in strategic planning, pricing, and product development, collaborating with your Energy & Construction colleagues and other departments across Everest to unlock cross selling opportunities and ensure aligned portfolio management with Claims and Engineering teams.
  • You’ll represent Everest at client and broker meetings, industry events, and site visits, while also supporting junior team members and fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in conventional Power insurance.
  • Understanding of Wholesale London Market business.
  • Ability to thrive in complex, matrixed environments, collaborating effectively across functions and levels.
  • A track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and strategic insight into global market trends.
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making skills, with a logical and objective approach.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance and internal control frameworks.
