Job description

Ready to take the next step in your public affairs career? Family Fund are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Policy and Public Affairs Co-ordinator to help co-ordinate the work of our new team in securing a better future for families raising disabled and seriously ill children.

About the role

As Policy and Public Affairs Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in monitoring Government strategy and policy developments and in helping to shape Family Fund’s policy positions. You will work closely with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, as part of a small team dedicated to making a better future for families raising disabled and seriously ill children.

In this role, you will draft responses to consultations and contribute to public affairs external media activity and campaigns. You will also be involved in co‑ordinating and contributing to Government engagement activity.

Responsibilities
  • Gathering information about emerging policy and legislation that may offer development opportunities and/or impact on children, young people and their families, and communicating this across the charity.
  • Co‑ordinating cross‑departmental input and drafting authoritative written evidence for consultations and stakeholders.
  • Assisting the development of policy positions for organisation wide use.
  • Ensuring the voice of families caring for disabled children and young people is present in every aspect of Family Fund’s policy work.
  • Helping to deliver Family Fund’s public affairs strategy across the UK, developing and maintaining internal systems and processes to support the development of strong and effective external relationships.
  • Working with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs and the nation‑based Policy and Public Affairs Managers to ensure a co‑ordinated approach to our parliamentary work maximising our impact across the UK.
About you

For this role you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must have proven experience of report writing for different audiences and managing a diverse workload. You will have accurate and high‑level document presentation skills. You will also have excellent analytical and reasoning skills with the ability to meet deadlines and performance targets.
