Overview

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organisation for the provision of protective policing for the civil nuclear industry and other critical national infrastructure. We recruit skilled and committed professionals to our team to protect the nation’s security.

Being a CNC Police Officer is about more than traditional policing. You’ll join a highly trained, professional team providing 24/7 armed response, patrolling and protecting nuclear sites, facilities and materials, and patrolling local communities. You will work with local Home Office Police Forces and may be deployed as part of the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and Operation Temperer in response to terrorist attacks.

Training and Recruitment

Upon joining the CNC you’ll be enrolled onto our world-class training and will undertake a condensed 4-week training programme. Our recruitment team will discuss local course preferences and will note this in your application to align with delivery.

You are responsible for displaying and delivering these to the highest standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A full manual driving licence
  • Be a substantive Police Sergeant
  • A qualified Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO) / Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) trained with their current force
Transfers and Benefits

Transferees who join the CNC will, in the majority of cases, have the salary and annual leave entitlements they had at their last force honoured, meaning you can start with us on exactly the same pay and entitlements.

Our standard entitlements for officers include 25 days (200 hours) per year annual leave, plus bank holidays; increasing to 26 days after 6 years’ service, 27 days after 7 years’, 28 days after 8 years’, 29 days after 9 years’, and up to 30 days after ten years’ service.
