An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, compassionate, and motivated Advanced Podiatry Practitioner to join our community-based service and lead the way in delivering high-quality care to individuals across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

This role offers the chance to be at the forefront of transforming podiatry services, while actively supporting the development and improvement of clinical pathways in key specialist areas, including diabetes and vascular care, wound management, and nail surgery.

In this advanced clinical role, you will:

  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for individuals with complex podiatric needs
  • Work autonomously and as part of a wider MDT across a range of community settings
  • Lead and support the continuous improvement of clinical pathways within:
    • High-risk foot care (diabetes and vascular)
    • Complex wound care
    • Nail surgery services
  • Act as a source of expert advice and clinical leadership across the podiatry team and wider health system
  • Supervise and mentor podiatry staff, students, and other AHP and Nursing colleagues
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit, and evidence-based practice
  • Collaborate with system partners to ensure equitable, effective care across BNSSG
Main duties
  • Responsibility for clinical governance across the diabetes and vascular pathway, wound care pathway and nail surgery pathway within the podiatry service alongside the Clinical and Operational Lead for Podiatry and MSK Foot and Ankle Services (CLOP).
  • To work within community and secondary care to an Advanced Practice level.
  • To work closely with the other Clinical Pathway leads, Operational Leads and Podiatry CLOP to ensure resilience across the group of Leads.
  • To provide advanced skills in diabetes footcare and vascular podiatry, including advanced knowledge of wound care and nail surgery to enable assessment, treatment and management of a varied and complex high risk clinical caseload whilst providing clinical leadership to support the delivery of clinical excellence across the BNSSG podiatry team.
  • Lead on the development of an educational framework to improve knowledge and skills of our system partners within BNSSG and within our organisation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Podiatric Medicine
  • HCPC registration
  • Completed the Advanced Practice MSc and been awarded the Centre for Advancing Practice (CfAP) Advanced Practice digital badge, OR been awarded another relevant MSc AND enrolled on the CfAP Supported (e-portfolio) route to gain your digital badge, OR you have demonstrable experience of working to an Advanced Practice level (MSc equivalent) across all four pillars AND you are enrolled on the CfAP Supported (e-portfolio) route to gain your digital badge

Desirable

  • Recognised post graduate management / leadership qualification, working towards one or willingness to undertake.
  • Teaching qualification
  • Undertaken research as a chief or principle investigator
  • Experience of developing practice guidelines and governance frameworks

  • Experience of teaching at Higher Education Institutions
