Overview

Plant Operator

Salary: £38,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 4-on-4-off, 12-hour shift pattern

Location: Dudley, DY2 8JW

As a Plant Operator at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of our Energy from Waste facility. Working closely with the Shift Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader, you will ensure that plant processes run smoothly, efficiently, and within set parameters. This is a full-time position, working on a rotating shift pattern.

What will you be doing?

• Ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the plant and equipment
• Carrying out regular plant walk-arounds and inspections to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations
• Assisting with testing and routine operations of plant systems
• Operating overhead gantry cranes and mobile plant
• Responding appropriately to emergency scenarios as per training and procedures
• Supporting the correct receipt and dispatch of facility inputs and outputs
• Collecting and reporting data as required by the Shift Team Leader
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly working environment
• Providing shift cover when needed, including during sickness, holidays, or training

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated, safety-conscious individual who:

• Has operational experience in a continuous process industry, ideally in power generation, defence, or a similar demanding environment
• Possesses practical skills, such as basic mechanical fitting or mobile plant operation (advantageous but not essential)
• Understands environmental permits, H&S regulations, and safe working practices
• Is a logical problem-solver with good communication skills
• Is flexible, enthusiastic, punctual, and reliable
• Has basic computer literacy and a willingness to learn and develop
