Job description
Overview

Part of the Middlesbrough Operations Management team managing the day to day activities required to safely deliver the production programme on the Middlesbrough production plants. Maximising plant throughput whilst maintaining high safety standards and planning logistics to ensure smooth transitions between various processes.

Day to day operation and management of a chemical production unit and other site activities

Plant modifications and improvements

Contributing to the development and commissioning of new products and processes

Following, reviewing and improving operating procedures

Developing and issuing plant batch card instructions

Performance mentoring of process operating teams

Providing technical support into process development and optimisation

Leading Root Cause Investigations into incidents and near misses

Increasing quality and reliability of plant and processes

Lead or assisting with process improvement projects

Provide any relevant training to process operating teams

Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems

Scheduling and coordinating activities on the production unit to achieve standard production rates

Ensuring that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities

Participating in advanced trouble shooting and coaching others to learn these skills

Required skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong safety leadership
  • Minimum of a 2:1 degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Relevant experience in a similar position
  • Qualifications in Six Sigma methodology would be an advantage
  • Must have full UK driving license
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills
