Job summary

A construction contractor is seeking a skilled Plant Fitter/Mechanic to maintain, repair, and service plant machinery across construction sites in Norwich. This role involves diagnosing mechanical faults, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and keeping accurate maintenance records. Ideal candidates will have experience in construction, a strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems, and relevant qualifications. This is a temp to perm position offering an hourly wage of £23 - £24.50.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a plant fitter or mechanic, ideally within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • CSCS card or willingness to obtain one.

We are working on behalf of a busy construction contractor to recruit a skilled Plant Fitter / Mechanic to maintain, repair, and service plant machinery across construction sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic to join a supportive team and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on construction plant and machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Ensure all machinery complies with health & safety regulations.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and report on equipment condition.
  • Work closely with site teams to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
  • Ensure all works comply with health & safety regulations and company standards.
  • Support toolbox talks, inductions, and risk assessments.
Qualifications & Desirable Experience
  • Proven experience as a plant fitter or mechanic, ideally within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in plant machinery maintenance.
  • CSCS card or willingness to obtain one.
